After her sister Emma dies under mysterious and violent circumstances, Rebeca begins investigating the video game she had been playing. Her search leads to a long-standing urban legend about a cursed cartridge said to contain Goggi, a sinister creature that relentlessly hunts anyone who releases it.
As the curse closes in on Rebeca and her friends, disturbing visions, brutal jump scares and the growing presence of the nightmarish monster turn the investigation into a desperate race against time. Rebeca must uncover the secrets of the game and find a way to stop Goggi before it claims another victim.
With blood-soaked practical effects, creeping dread and a monster that refuses to stay inside the screen, Juego Maldito delivers a terrifying throwback to 1980s creature horror.

Carlos Marín is a Mexican filmmaker making his feature directorial debut with Juego Maldito.
A long-time horror enthusiast, Marín conceived the film as a contemporary tribute to the monster movies and practical-effects-driven horror of the 1980s.
Shot in Guadalajara and other locations across Jalisco, the production uses prosthetics, animatronics and practical effects to bring its central creature to life. Alongside its supernatural horror elements, Marín explores themes of grief and loneliness.
