Lund Fantastic Film Festival accepts international feature and short films with fantastic elements, including horror, science fiction, fantasy, animation and genre-bending cinema.
We are looking for bold, imaginative films with a strong cinematic voice — from established filmmakers and emerging talent alike. We welcome work that takes risks, crosses genres and offers audiences something unexpected.

Lund Fantastic Film Festival celebrates outstanding achievements in fantastic cinema through a range of jury and audience awards.
Awards recognise outstanding achievements in fantastic filmmaking and celebrate filmmakers from around the world, from emerging student directors to established international voices.
Presented in collaboration with the Méliès International Festivals Federation (MIFF), the Méliès d'Argent recognises the best European feature film and best European short film. The winners advance to the Méliès d'Or competition alongside winners from other member festivals.
Presented to the best international feature film in competition.
Introduced in 2026, this award recognises the best non-European short film in competition.
Presented to the best Swedish short film. The award is supported by the Swedish Film Institute.
Presented to the best student short film, celebrating emerging voices in fantastic cinema.
Chosen entirely by the festival audience, these awards recognise the favourite feature film and short film of the festival.
Lund Fantastic Film Festival welcomes interns who want hands-on experience in film festivals, cultural production, programming, communication, event management and the wider film industry.
A film festival is much more than a week of screenings. It sits at the intersection of programming, distribution and sales, public funding, marketing, press, hospitality, event production, audience development and international networking.
Our work changes throughout the year, and can be divided into three main phases. The three phases overlap, as the main focus gradually shifts from programming and development to preparation and, finally, full festival production.
