Swedish premiere/Méliès d’Argent Competition
When Andrea throws herself from the window of a tenement building where Anna and Nick live too their lives are about to get weird. The couple is going through a marital crisis since Anna suspects her husband of having had an affair with the upstairs neighbor. In an attempt to rekindle their marriage, they decide to go to a cabin in the countryside but while driving up there a collision with a sheep kicks off a string of confusing experiences that make Anna question her own sanity. Is she seeing things? Is her life becoming a figment of her imagination or is it really happening?
Different realities and dreams blend into one another, making the characters’ journeys an intense and surreal headtrip they will struggle to figure out. Beautifully composed and stylish, Greg Zglinski’s Tiere is a puzzle box mystery that manages to be an engaging treat to the senses as well as a masterclass in editing.
Come for the Lynchian headtrip and stay for the surprisingly sinister, talking cat!
