Getting to Lund from abroad

When planning a visit to Lund, Sweden, it is important to have in mind that Sweden is separated from the European continent by the Baltic Sea to the east and south and by the strait Öresund to the west.

By air – Copenhagen Airport CPH / Kastrup – Malmö – (Lund)

Copenhagen Airport, CPH, at Kastrup, Denmark, is the closest large international airport, can be most conveniently reached by a frequent high-speed train (Öresundståget) running from Copenhagen Railway Station (Kobenhavn H) via Copenhagen Airport (CPH / Kastrup) to Malmö Central (railway) Station. The trip from Copenhagen Airport to Malmö Central Station will take approximately 30 minutes. Tickets can be purchased all the way through to Lund but a change of trains in Malmö is often necessary. Try to get a Öresundståg towards Helsingborg or Kristianstad, then you get directly to Lund without changing trains.

By air local airport Malmö MMX/Sturup – Lund

The local airport Malmö – Sturup, MMX, has frequent connections to and from Stockholm, London and Amsterdam, but only a few other regular international flights. There is a bus service from Sturup to Lund – flygbussarna. Busses depart about ten minutes after the arrival of planes from Stockholm (almost every hour). The bus stops in central Lund (at Lundagård and the main railway station). There is also a limousine service (desk at the airport check-in area) from Sturup , which will take you directly to your address in Lund. The Swedish taxi-market is free and though most companies have recommended prices for defined routes (such as Sturup – Lund), drivers have sadly been known to charge foreign visitors unreasonable fees. Taxis in Sweden can be pre-ordered or found at Taxi stops often found just outside stations, harbours etc., hailing them in the street sometimes works but it is not the normal routine. Taxis normally accept all major credit cards.

Travel from Malmö to Lund

Travel from Malmö to Lund may be partaken by taxi or local (purple) trains, Pågatåget – approximately 15 minutes. The local trains normally depart 4 times per hour during weekdays, somewhat less frequently in the evening and during weekends. Taxis in Sweden can be pre-ordered or found at Taxi stops often just outsider stations, harbours etc., hailing them in the street sometimes works but it is not the normal routine. The Swedish taxi-market has recently been made free-allowing drivers to set their own fees, which, unhappily, sometimes results in visitors from abroad paying outrageous prices. Settle a price with the driver before accepting his/her services, normally drivers are employed by a taxi company, which has established recommended prices for certain routes. Taxis normally accept all major credit cards.

Train – Copenhagen Central Railway Station (Kobenhavn H ) – to Lund

The Öresund trains run frequently over the bridge to Sweden from Copenhagen Station (Kobenhavn H) to Malmö Central Station will take approximately 40 minutes. Tickets can be purchased all the way through to Lund, but a change of trains in Malmö is often necessary. Try to get a Öresund train (Öresundståg) towards Helsingborg or Kristianstad, then you get directly to Lund without changing trains. If you need to change trains at Malmö C, then take a Pågatåg to Lund, the run about every 20 minutes at work hours, less frequent at night and weekends.
