V/H/S Viral

The V/H/S series leads us into the seedy lairs of voyeurs, collectors of snuff, sex tapes and videos of bizarre occult events. It was probably only a matter of time before this material found it’s way onto the internet. Not exactly the kind of fame the teenagers trying to film a violent car chase through Los Angeles imagined for themselves.

The mockumentary style of found footage films lends itself well to punk aesthetics and producer Brad Miska knows to manage the underground style, stuffing this anthology with up-and-coming directors: Marcel Sarmiento (“D is for Dogfight” from ABCs of Death), Nacho Vigalondo (Timecrimes), Gregg Bishop (The Birds of Anger), Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (Resolution) and Todd Lincoln (The Apparition).

Creepy suspense followed by shocking spectacle has become the trademark of the V/H/S franchise and Viral, the third installation, is no exception. An insane illusionist, a Mexican death cult, a door to another dimension, a serial killer and a conspiracy is all to be expected – along with tons of screams, gore and static.
