The TiMER is a popular wrist implant, counting down to the moment the wearer finds his or her one true love. Approximately half of the population of the United States has already got one. But Oona faces the rare dilemma of a blank TiMER. Her soul mate – whoever and wherever he is – has yet to have a TiMER implanted. Her sister Steph, faces a different problem; her TiMER shows that she won’t meet her true love until she’s 43 years old, and she is far from 43. They both have very different coping strategies in facing their TiMER troubles. If a clock could count down to the moment you meet your soul mate, would you want to know?

TiMER is a romantic science fiction comedy, with Emma Caulfield (well known for her role as Anya in Buffy the Vampire Slayer) portraying the main character Oona. The film is more of a contemporary “what if” sci-fi rather than a futuristic vision. Clever, well written, with sharp dialogue and some nice acting, TiMER is a class of its own among this year’s films.
