A modern interpretation of one of the absolute classics of gothic literature.

When Rebecca’s already fragile world is threatened by things that cannot, should not be real, she is forced to question both herself and everything she knows. This is a story about desire, obsession and death, friendship and jealousy – and all those other things you can expect at a catholic school for girls. (Oh yes. You know.)

The Moth Diaries is an adaptation of Rachel Klein’s novel, directed by Mary Harron (American Psycho) and starring Sarah Bolger (The Tudors) as our slightly hysterical heroine. It warms our nerdy hearts to find references not only to Dracula, but even more to J. Sheridan Le Fanu’s vampire novel Carmilla, which it’s plain to see has also been a great inspiration for the story. The role as the tempting but extremely creepy Ernessa is portrayed brilliantly by model/actress Lily Cole, previously seen in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.
