The Extraordinary Adventuresof of Adèle Blanc-Sec

What would have happened if Amélie Poulain had taken inspiration from Indiana Jones? For those who have followed the career of producer/director Luc Besson in last decade know that he has put action films aside on behalf of more adventure filled entertainment.

When Besson takes on the comic book heroine Adéle Blanc-Sec, from author Jacques Tardis, he pulls out all the stops.

Adéle is a cynical and inventive writer in Paris during the early 20th century who has grown tired of writing novels and decides to transform herself into an investigative journalist. But whoever expects this to be a Tintin like story should be prepared for a surprise. Before the second act we already have a loose pterodactyl, a mummy, thick moustaches and all the glory of Paris. In spite of the film being crazy, absurd and full of speed, it never becomes silly. The audience is never undermined and gets their pennies worth every step of the way. The Extraordinary Adventures of Adéle Blanc-Sec is a film to be enjoyed by everyone who loves the Adventure genre and seeing it pushed to its limits.
