A family is torn apart by external threats and internal conflicts
in this Swedish nightmare thriller. When Krister’s wife passes
away, he is left alone with their two children. The teenager
blames Krister for her mother’s death and has recently started
sneaking out in the evenings. Krister tries to keep everything
under control but no one has any faith in him. As if that wasn’t
enough, he gets sleep paralysis and it seems like a good oldfashioned
mare is the cause. Soon, there’s a lot more at stake
than Krister’s beauty sleep and with the help of his daughter’s
quirky boyfriend, and a massive amount of linseeds, Krister
arms up to keep his family safe from this supernatural threat.
Perfectly balanced between ice cold horror, psychological
drama and comic awkwardness, this is one of the most interesting
Swedish films this year. And whatever you do, don’t miss
out on the opportunity to see Peter Stormare as a goateewearing

Celeste Sjölin
