Takashi Miike needs no further presentation for fans of fantastic film. This Japanese director has worked in all genres imaginable and he has been incredibly productive. He always contributes with originality and a great love for the film medium. Audition, Ichi the Killer, Visitor Q and Sukiyaki Western Django are some of his creations. Now Miike has made probably the most mature movie of his career. 13 Assassins is his version of Seven Samurai.

It`s about the evil lord Naritsugu Matsudaira (Goro Inagaki) who terrorizes different clans in feudal Japan. Twelve samurai, under the leadership of Shinzaemon Shimada (Koji Yakusho from The Eel), plot to assassinate the lord. They soon gain unexpected support. What fallows is an epic story full of violence, political intrigue and treason. 13 Assassins has gained critical praise worldwide and Miike was nominated for the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 2010.

Mycket bra film, men inte är det hans version av de 7 samurajerna inte, utan av Eiichi Kudos film från 1963 med samma namn.
